Supporting the Alzheimer’s Society
Ian's Memory Walk
Alzheimer’s Society is the UK’s leading dementia support and research charity, working towards a future where dementia no longer devastates lives. The charity brings together people affected by dementia, their families, researchers and communities to improve support, advance research and create lasting change.
For Ian, this is a cause that is very close to home. Both his mum and dad had dementia and since losing them both to the disease, Ian and his family have taken part in the Alzheimer’s Society Memory Walk over the years to honour their memories and support a cause that means so much to them.
Ian was joined for this year’s Alzheimer’s Society Memory Walk by colleagues Akash, Albert, Amma, Naina, Veronica and Maria, alongside friends and family members, including Nancy, Davide and two of their friends. Ian’s rescue dog, Coco, also came along for the walk! Together, the group have raised an incredible £800 for Alzheimer’s Society to support the charity’s vital work.
The day also highlighted just how many people have been personally affected by dementia, with Ian reflecting on how surprised he was to discover how many colleagues had family members who had experienced dementia or Alzheimer’s disease.
What began as a fundraising walk became an opportunity for colleagues and friends to come together, share their experiences and support a cause that has touched so many lives. For Ian, every step carries personal meaning. By continuing to take part in the Memory Walk year after year, he is helping support Alzheimer’s Society’s work towards a future where fewer families have to face the devastating effects of dementia.
We're incredibly proud of Ian and everyone who joined him, including Coco, for their efforts and generosity. Their participation is a wonderful example of how individual stories can bring people together to make a difference.
