Supporting f6it and Sasha’s Project
As part of our 25th-anniversary fundraising campaign, Kerrie is taking on 25 challenges over the next eight months, with the hope of inspiring others to get involved, take on challenges of their own and help make a difference.
She’ll be supporting two charities, Sasha’s Project and f6it, each doing important work to support people in our communities.
f6it helps disabled children and young people enjoy sport, fitness and recreational activities alongside their families and friends. Through accessible, inclusive clubs, fitness sessions and leisure activities, the charity works to break down barriers, reduce isolation and support physical and mental wellbeing.
Just as importantly, it helps young people build confidence and friendships, while helping families feel more connected and less alone.
Sasha’s Project was established in memory of Sasha, a local young woman from Fleet who died by suicide at just 20 years old. Her family believe that having somewhere safe to turn when she was struggling with her mental health, particularly during the night, could have made a real difference.
The charity aims to help fill this gap in support for young people experiencing a mental health crisis around the Hampshire and Surrey borders. While working towards its long-term ambition of opening a 24-hour crisis house with facilities for overnight stays, Sasha’s Project currently runs a drop-in centre, offering a place for people to seek support.
With 25 challenges planned across eight months, there’ll be plenty to follow! We’ll be sharing updates as Kerrie works her way through the challenges, celebrating her progress and sharing the moments along the way.
Every challenge is an opportunity to raise awareness and support the work of Sasha’s Project and f6it. We can’t wait to see what Kerrie takes on first! If you’d like to support Sasha’s Project and f6it as Kerrie takes on her 25 challenges, you can find out more and donate using the button below.
Kerrie’s 25 Challenges Diary
Challenge 1 - Fleet 10k
Kerrie has been putting her running shoes to good use, taking on the 10K road race around Fleet in Hampshire!
Out of 690 runners, Kerrie crossed the finish line in 677th place. But let's be honest, who's counting? She finished, she didn't come last and that's what matters!
When it comes to running technique, Kerrie admits she might not have all the impressive qualities of a top runner, but she does have one secret weapon: complete pig-headed stubbornness! And sometimes, that's all you need.
Kerrie's advice to anyone thinking about taking on a challenge of their own? Just get out there and give it a go. If she can do it, so can you!
Challenge 2 - Halloween at Hogmoor Brutal
Kerrie clearly hadn't had quite enough of a challenge, so next up was something a little more unusual... a Halloween Zombie Apocalypse Run!
Alongside her friend Lara, Kerrie tackled 7K through the woods at Borden, dressed as a zombie apocalypse survivor. Pitch-black paths, hills, tree roots and water up to their knees... what could possibly go wrong?!
Thankfully, they made it through, raised more money for charity and headed home for a well-deserved warm-up!
Another challenge completed, more money raised and not a zombie in sight (hopefully)!
